Our Dream: A Permanent Camp

At Foster Hope, we’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative impact that our summer camps have on foster children. These camps are so much more than a week of fun; they’re an opportunity for growth and a place of healing for children who have faced unimaginable challenges.

Activities designed to foster self-esteem, teamwork, and trust–and just give kids a chance to be kids–build confidence while equipping children with skills to help them thrive in their day-to-day lives.

However, the potential of these life-changing camps is limited by the lack of a permanent location. Each year, a significant portion of donations go to finding and paying for a venue, which means fewer kids get to go to camp.

Our Dream: A Permanent Camp

It’s Foster Hope’s goal to secure a permanent piece of land; a stable and welcoming environment where children and foster families can come together to learn, grow, and heal.

We’ll be able to welcome more children and ensure that every dollar donated stretches further. We’ll also be able to hold more camps, so foster children and families will have an opportunity to recharge and reconnect regularly.

A Resource for Foster Families

The challenges of fostering a child who has experienced trauma can be overwhelming. Many foster children return to the system not for lack of effort or care from their foster families, but because families aren’t equipped to build an environment structured around healing and respond appropriately to trauma-induced behavior.

Our goal is to expand beyond a camp for kids to a camp for families. While we already conduct classes to educate foster families and child welfare professionals, we want to do more. We want to host educational programs for the entire foster family, equipping them with the skills they need to navigate the emotional and practical complexities of foster care with confidence in an environment designed to recharge and renew, so they’re ready to go back to caring for their kids with confidence.

Our dream is a lasting sanctuary where children learn, grow, and heal alongside their foster families, overcoming trauma and strengthening bonds together.

Join Us in Making This Dream a Reality

The dream of a permanent camp for Foster Hope is ambitious, but with your support, it’s within reach. Here’s how you can help:

Donate

Every dollar brings us a step closer to purchasing land and building the Foster Hope Camp. The sooner we can buy the land, the sooner we can begin having a greater impact on the foster children and families of North Carolina.

Spread the Word

If you believe in our mission, share it. Talk to your church or organization about joining forces with Foster Hope to put on a summer camp or pair in raising funds for land.

Volunteer

Join us in our efforts, whether through hands-on help at our current camps or by lending your expertise to the planning and construction of our permanent site.

Your Support Matters

Supporting Foster Hope’s vision is an investment in the lives of foster children and the families that welcome them. Together, we can build a place where foster children and their families learn, grow, and heal together—strengthening our community one family at a time.
